Lessons in piano, percussion, theory, and composition
Steve Fong
graduated from Loyola University, New Orleans with a B.M. in Music Composition and received his Master's Degree in Composition from Cleveland State. He minored in Percussion Performance, specializing on the marimba. He performed professionally for years in the orchestra at Le Petit Theatre in New Orleans and has been teaching privately since 1999. But really, who cares? Steve is a first-rate teacher with a very professional yet informal style who believes in letting students learn at their own pace. While he can easily gear you for professional performance or college auditions, he can just as well teach you to play for personal enjoyment with little stress. He will help you define your goals and guide you toward fulfilling them.
Ingrid Fong
is not big on credentials, but since you'll want to know...She left her studies in Music Composition (with a 3.7 GPA) during her junior year at the University of New Orleans to begin raising a family, so if you're stuck on the idea of your teacher having a degree to be qualified to teach you, talk to Steve! On the other hand, she's been teaching since 1998 and is a well-known and highly respected vocalist and pianist from New Orleans with lots of practical experience. Largely self-taught for many years, she has a great understanding of learning through exploration so the information is understood, not merely memorized. Very practical, very kid-friendly, and even a bit hip, she tends to teach in a highly individualized manner and is especially suited for those wishing to learn popular piano style.
